Graduate student instructor for CEE 211 - Statics and Dynamics

Milestone

In Winter 2026, I will serve as a Graduate Student Instructor for CEE 211: Statics and Dynamics in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan. This appointment runs from January 7 to April 30, 2026, at a 25% fraction and includes full tuition support.

CEE 211 is a core mechanics course for civil and related engineering majors. On the statics side, it covers vector mechanics, force and moment resultants, static equilibrium in two and three dimensions, centroids, centers of gravity, distributed loadings, and mass and area moments of inertia. The dynamics portion introduces kinematics and kinetics of particles and rigid bodies, including velocity and acceleration, work–energy, impulse–momentum, and vibration concepts.

As GSI, I’ll assist with teaching and support students through a mix of classroom contact, office hours, and problem-solving sessions. My responsibilities include helping students work through equilibrium and free-body problems, guiding them on dynamics concepts like relative motion and energy methods, and grading homework and exams to provide clear, constructive feedback. I’m looking forward to helping students build a solid mechanics foundation that will carry into later courses in structural engineering, materials, and design.
